Discourse 11 | The Power of the Spirit in Every Soul
In this address, Rev Mario asks us to visualize the event of Pentecost as St Luke described it. It has all the elements of a great storm – sound, rushing wind, flashing fire. It was a unique event: the spirit breaking through and entering the earth, lighting a flame in every soul.
This divine spirit is now no longer just the portion of the chosen or special, it is the spirit of humankind. It gives the ability to understand our true humanity and grow towards that. It burns away that which is sub-human and highlights what is unique within us and what binds us together as the human race.
The fact that many foreigners were able to understand the message spoken by the disciples on Pentecost day is an indication that this spiritual impulse encompasses the world, healing the soul, enlightening the mind, pushing us on.
