The Season of Advent and the Twelve Holy Nights of Christmas
In the four weeks prior to Christmas the angels draw closer to this earth in preparation for a new flow of the Christ life into the world. During this time, we prepare our souls through meditation, quiet reflection and song.
Christmas is the festival of the birth of light. It is a celebration of the breaking through of a true spiritual light into our hearts and consciousness. The Christmas festival commences on Christmas Eve with the Midnight Mass. At the end of this mass, members leave the chapel with a lighted candle, as a visible sign that they are bearing the light of the Christ into the darkness of the world.
Christmas Eve is the beginning of the 12 Holy Nights, a time in which we are being prepared for the new year to come. It is a time in which we pay close attention to our dreams, our spiritual imaginations and the messages of the divine worlds.
The 12 Holy Nights end with the celebration of Epiphany, on January 6th. Two important events in the life of Christ are reflected on at this time: the visit of the three Magi who brought gifts to honour the Jesus child, and the baptism of Jesus, when the Christ Being descended into the human body.
