At Large | Easter 2023![]() Easter Services via Zoom Rev David's address from the Good Friday Agapē Saturday 8th April The Veneration of Light Florida 7am | Europe 1pm CEST | WA 7pm | SA 8.30pm | NSW/VIC 9pm | NZ 11pm We prepare ourselves and our altars to welcome the light of the Risen Christ. This year we will be celebrating Veneration a little differently. We are going to take a more metaphysical approach - that the altar is a reflection of our divine self. So, if you are intending to come then you will need to do some preparation beforehand. Please see below. Celebrant: Rev Colleen Corridan Preparation: We have been celebrating services together over the ethers for a few years now, each of us with our own altar before us, in whatever form that takes. We have this with us as we participate in the services. Often our altars are not visible to one another but they are present to us. In this service we will bring forth our altar. That is, we will firstly spend a little time together (30 minutes?) to prepare and present our altars and then following on from this we will enter into the service to Venerate the Light. So, what you will need to prepare? This is your choice but if nothing else you will need a Paschal candle to be able to bless the incoming light. At last year’s Veneration invitation this is what was said about the Paschal candle. Paint a candle with a symbol that will remind you of your connection with the heavens, a symbol that will remind you of what guides, leads and protects you as you enter into a new life. A distinguishing feature of the Paschal candle is the five grains of incense, or five incense nails. These nails symbolise the five wounds of Christ who is now risen and glorified. The nails also remind us how own soul is crucified when it is limited to the world of our five senses, but when we rise to a new life how your senses can uplift and beautify life. You will also need:
What else is important to you on your altar and how does it reflect your connection with the heavens?
So please take time over the next few days to prepare your own Paschal candle and worship space so that by Saturday evening you are ready to enter into our conversation and then the service of Veneration.
