Stand for a moment in the light and open yourself, like a lotus flower to the sun. Be lifted into the heights of the fellowship of the holy ones. Receive the sustenance and strength to live on this earth as a spiritual being and to cleanse yourself from all that holds you in the power of this earth.
These words, by Rev Mario, describe what prayer is and does. He says, It is an action which acknowledges my co-existence with the Godhead. It is not so much about asking for things as it is about confirming what I am. The prayers in this collection were spoken over a period of twenty years during actual services of devotion or evenings of learning, when the spirit was palpably present. These are live recordings and so each track is a real experience of prayer and communing with the cosmos. The prayers vary in pace, feel, loudness or softness. They vary in sound quality, mood and atmosphere. They come from real events, not staged, and that is why you can sense the contact. Mario is speaking to the spirit and to his real self, and translating what he is seeing and experiencing. He is putting into words images and experiences and communications from the spirit to the spirit.
Something very powerful radiates from Mario's voice in these prayers, not of this world. These prayers put us in touch with new worlds within ourselves. They assist us to enter into and experience a realm that is both higher and deeper than we normally reach in our prayer life. When we do not know what to pray for ourselves, these prayers will open up new avenues of awareness. They help centre us again in the fact that we are divine. How to use these audio recordings This collection is designed to be used with consciousness and attention and therefore it is recommended to play only one prayer at a time. The accompanying booklet contains all the words for each prayer. Choose a prayer (or select one at random) and stay with it for a period. It will deepen within you. Certain words or phrases will remain with you. You could listen to the same one for days at a time before you decide to select a new one. Each prayer is in fact a short contemplation and reminder and reorientation to the spirit. These are mystical prayers and need to be contemplated, not just consumed. They are rich and, like very fine chocolate, they are to be taken in one piece at a time. Start your daily devotional time with them or end your day with them. Speak them with Rev Mario or let his voice guide you. Play one to begin a spiritually purposeful meeting or time of fellowship. Take yourself to the park or the beach and be refreshed by the communion these prayers open up. Team with your favourite meditation music to extend your time of contemplation. The quality you will experience in these prayers is ‘Deeper and Deeper’. They draw out of us a knowledge of prayer that is very ancient indeed, something every soul knows at its core: Prayer is communication with God. It is not just the reciting of words.
