Chapter 13 of Paul’s first Letter to the Corinthians is very well known. It presents us with the trinity of faith, hope and love. It can also be described as a love poem. Love which is vast and complex and yet quite simple.
Love is a substance that is dynamic and calls forth a response. Love is a gift. The heavens present us with visible signs of their love. When we are love and pour our love out, the world gains, and we are invited to sit at table with Christ.
When we love in truth, we directly relate to the other’s spiritual nature. When we are loved in that way, we remember who we truly are. Love is remembrance. When we leave this life, nothing remains except for love.
So “faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love”…
