The teachings and gifts imparted by our Founders
Compiled by Antoinette Schoenmaker
Ten years after the deaths of our Founders, members of the Rosa Veritas community speak about what they received from Rev Mario and Rev Colin. Following each member’s observation, we then hear the distinctive voices and life-giving words of Mario and Colin, in extracts from discourses spanning thirty years of their ministry.

Every year, on the first weekend in August, Rosa Veritas celebrates Founders Day, a festival of remembrance and thanksgiving for the founding of The Centre as well as for the Founders, Rev Mario Schoenmaker and Rev Colin Read.
In the spirit of thanksgiving and in an attempt to create a full picture of these two remarkable people, Rev Antoinette Schoenmaker asked a number of Centre members 'What was the essential gift or teaching you received from Mario or Colin?' Based on the keywords given in reply to this question, the wealth of discourses and addresses given over many years by Rev Mario and Rev Colin was searched so as to hear direct from them too. The result is illuminating and stimulating. We do hear some of their essential teachings in their own inimitable voices, and can comprehend more fully the nature of their creation, The Centre, Rosa Veritas. Each chapter begins with a statement from one of the interviewees and then a small explanation from Rev Antoinette about the direction she took. Then there is an excerpt from one, or a number of discourses, given by Mario or Colin on a particular gift or teaching highlighted by the interviewee.
What we read are the life-giving words, the words which sowed and watered a seed. The image of the seed being planted was an image that was often used by Rev Mario. He saw that that was the way the spirit worked. Eons ago, we received, through the sacrifice of high spiritual beings, the seed of our physical body. Gradually, gradually, it became manifest. Two thousand years ago, we received, through the sacrifice on Golgotha, the seed of Christ. Gradually, gradually, we are starting to see evidence that this seed is alive and growing. In much the same way, the words and deeds of our Founders found prepared soil in our souls and gradually, gradually, we recognise something growing that is now our own. It was our Founders' firm understanding that we were responsible for the growth and nurturing and care of that seed. They could give it, but whether the gift would grow and the teachings become fruitful was entirely up to us. Keywords Rev Mario Schoenmaker, Rev Colin Read, teachings. |
