Single Grain ... Abundant Harvest | eBook
Easter Addresses 2023
Rev Robert John
In these Easter addresses to the Rosa Veritas community in Adelaide, Robert reflects on texts drawn from John’s Gospel. The image of the single grain of wheat dying in order to bring forth much fruitfulness (John 12:24) provides a unifying theme.
From Death, New Life
Address from the Good Friday Agapē
John 12 • John 15
This image of the seed given to us by the Christ as he looked to his coming death on Golgotha – a single seed that dies, so to enable an abundant harvest – speaks to us not only of Christ’s self-giving surrender to fulfilling his spiritual purpose and divine destiny; it also images what is required of each of us as we embrace the initiation enabled and empowered through the Easter mysteries.
Open to Mystery
Address from the Veneration of Light
John’s Prologue • John 19:38 - 20:1
We stand in that undescribed, unspoken space between the last verse of John 19 and the first verse of John 20 … in that mysterious space which is Holy or Silent Saturday. That undescribed, unspoken space can only truly become known through mystical experience and spiritual perception. In the days and weeks to come, throughout the season of the mystical interval, we are to endeavour to open ourselves to these subtle perceptions and experiences of the new, spiritualised, transformed life that is the fruit of the Easter mysteries becoming known in us.
Address from the Easter Sunday Cosmic Mass
Psalm 139 • John 20
Resurrection is us rising up within ourselves, standing in the strength and power of our I AM … moment by moment, day by day! Trusting the response of love within us, trusting our experience and perception, and the guidance it gives us. The seed planted deep within us by the Christ must be nurtured by us, enabled to burst forth with new life and so add to the abundant harvest of Christ’s presence in the world.
