From November 1989 through to September 1990, Rev Mario gave what are known as the Spiritual Discourses. On a Sunday evening, Reverend Mario would sit down with his students in his chapel at The Centre in Caulfield, Melbourne, and speak to them about many matters which are pertinent to the Christian esoteric life, and the spiritual state of the world and the human being of this present time.
I am here to teach you wisdom; wisdom about the Gods, about the hierarchy, about the brotherhood to which I belong, about the esoteric teachings down the ages, about things belonging to the future, and about our practical application - for spiritual truth, unless it is practical, is not spiritual truth. In this discourse, Rev Mario uses a framework from esoteric psychology to connect our cognitive functions with the Spirit, our subconscious with the Son and our superconscious with the Father. Then he places our abilities to think, to feel and to will into this schema, and explains why we can ‘will’ something, ‘desire’ something, ‘long’ for something yet never be able to accomplish it. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak is a common experience, but this discourse looks at how we can remedy the undermining of our will by actively working with the trinity of our being.
