On a Sunday evening, Reverend Mario would like to sit down with his students in his chapel at The Centre in Caulfield, Melbourne. In that setting, he would speak to them about many matters which are pertinent to the Christian esoteric life. From November 1989 through to September 1990 he gave what is known as the Spiritual Discourses. During these evenings he presented foundational principles of esoteric knowledge to his students, although there is nothing basic about the way Reverend Mario gives this. Each discourse is very pertinent, up-to-date teaching about the spiritual state of the world and the human being of this present time.
I am here to teach you wisdom; wisdom about the Gods, about the hierarchy, about the brotherhood to which I belong, about the esoteric teachings down the ages, about things belonging to the future, and about our practical application - for spiritual truth, unless it is practical, is not spiritual truth. In this discourse, Rev Mario speaks about the invisible levels of our being and how these change and separate in sleep and in death. The experiences of dreaming, sleep and clairvoyant perception can be understood more clearly and purposefully when the etheric and astral levels of the human being are taken into account. In death, the etheric and the astral must be cleansed from earthly attachments and the ‘essence’ of life gathered. This is the soul’s main work during the journey. Rev Mario describes how we can support the dead in this work. The different regions of the spiritual worlds – kama loca and the four different regions of devachan – are described. This discourse wakes us up to the ongoing nature of life and how we can prepare now for that journey, and also for our future incarnations on this earth.
