Ash Wednesday Mass and Blessing of the Ashes Rev Robert John from Langwarrin, VIC Florida 2am EDT | EUR 8am CEST | WA 3pm | SA 5.30pm | NSW/VIC 6pm AEDT | NZ 8pm PREPARATION – Prior to the Mass, burn last year's palm cross or a piece of paper on which you have written your hopes for Lent 2024 and when cooled, grind to a fine ashen dust. Have these ashes ready to use during the Mass.
The Mystical Cosmic Mass is Christ’s sacred meal with us. Not only is it an offering and consecration of the bread and wine, it is also the offering and consecration of self. It is celebrated for those present, and with and on behalf of the universe. All are welcome to participate.
Sharing in these mysteries assists with aligning the small I AM within us with the great I AM of the cosmos, and the soul with the hierarchies above and below us. It is a recognition and embracing of the nine spiritual realms as well as an acceptance of our role and responsibility towards the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. The whole creation is involved.
The Mass is mystical and cosmic, inclusive, prayerful, evoking a closer relationship with the divine.

Preparation / Set Up
As is usual for all services, candlelight and flowers will enhance with spiritual atmosphere. Please have close at hand a consecrated host, small bread roll or piece of bread and also a small glass or chalice of port, wine or fruit juice so you can join with the celebrant in the Offering and Consecration. |
Lent
In the forty days prior to Easter Sunday, we prepare ourselves to gain a deeper experience of the event of Golgotha and to unfold a greater understanding of the effect of the death and resurrection of Christ on each individual, this world, and the cosmos. This season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday when palm crosses are burnt and our foreheads are anointed with ash to remind us that our body is but ash, but our spirit is eternal. | ||
