The John Group 2017
Robert John leads The John Group 2017. Participants either attend the group in Langwarrin (a suburb of Melbourne, Australia) or join via Zoom video conferencing.
IN HIS GOSPEL, John unfolds spiritual principles drawn from the mystery of Christ’s incarnation. He opens to us principles that will enable a Christed life sustained through an abiding relationship with Christ, empowered by his spirit, enacted and expressed in active love.
In his letters, John speaks more intimately and immediately to the community of those seeking to live out the spiritual principles unfolded in his gospel, struggling with their application. John’s letters encourage readers to abide in spiritual truth, examining the inseparable connection between belief and ethical life in active love for one another.
In 2017 the John Group builds on and deepen our experience of John’s gospel and begin to explore John’s letters. Each month participants share their reflection and insights on their chosen passage from the gospel, relating to that month’s theme. And Robert presents a reflection on the same theme, drawing on John’s letters. Our aim will be learning to abide more continually in the truth and express more fully the active love for one another Christ calls us to embrace.
In 2017 we meet six times, usually the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 7.30pm AEST (local Melbourne time). We are meeting Wednesday July 5, August 2, September 6, October 11, November 1, and December 6. Participants have the option of being present in the Langwarrin group or connecting via Zoom video conferencing.
