We can sometimes experience an inner disquiet in the season of Advent as we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the Christmas festival. There is an overlap as the earthly calendar year with its drive and activity to bring things to completion and fulfilment rubs against the quiet, introspective impulse to open ourselves to the insights and impetus of the new spiritual year already beginning. This tension can make more obvious the flaws, cracks and breakages in our connection and relationship with the spiritual worlds and our spiritual selves.
Robert explores the traditional Japanese art of kintsukuroi / kintsugi – ‘golden repair’, ‘golden joining’ – to better understand our capacity to repair these flaws, cracks and breakages and so enhance our strength, ability and beauty, deepening our Advent spiritual practice.
