from the Mystical Cosmic Mass
4th Sunday in Advent, 22 December, 2024
Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love,
being in full accord and of one mind.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

Rev David Perry examines the words of St Paul, ‘same mind’, ‘full accord’, ‘one mind’, and ‘having this mind among ourselves’. Is it thinking alike? Or, as Rev Mario wrote in 1981, “One of the purposes of Christmas is to set us free from [group spirit], so that we no longer have to act, think and talk like everyone else. …Christmas tells you to be yourself, to accept your own individuality and not be afraid of what lives within your own soul”.
In Rev Mario’s daily Meditations for the Days of Advent, we follow the journey of hope and anticipation, the yearning for a unity with the heavens not yet satisfied by our earthly lives, the journey the soul preparing for the birth of the Christ anew in each of us, the journey towards spiritual individuality.
Are we of the same mind? Each year the meditations are the same. Yet each year we are changed, new. The mediations enable a common journey and have a unified outcome. We are of the same mind, have the same love, we are in full accord and of one mind.
