An Advent Sunday address springing from the first meditation from the Days of Advent and focussed on the promise made by God in the Garden of Eden after the Temptation: that a Saviour would arise, from amongst the progeny of Adam, who would bruise the head of Satan.
The answer to the Fall and all it brought in its wake – pain, sorrow, conflict and death – lies in the birth of a human child who will become the Christ.
In the beginning there was unity with God, and in the end that unity will again be experienced. To make this possible, the divine must express itself in human form.
