St Luke's gospel speaks to our heart and feelings revealing to us the power of Christ's love. St Luke gives us an inkling of the power Christ's sacrifice has brought about. We are drawn inward to find in ourselves that love that can lay down its life for its friends.
In St Mark's gospel, Rev Mario draws attention to the qualities of the I AM today. He emphasizes the aloneness of Christ in this deed, and the aloneness of the person who is expressing I AMness. He speaks of the three hours of darkness and the cry of dereliction: Brothers of Sun, why have you forsaken me? And finally, the real meaning of Christian initiation and what it is to be “buried with Christ”. From St Matthew's portrayal, Rev Mario focuses on the suffering of Jesus Christ and emphasises that the servant is not greater than the Master, that the servant will have to follow where the Master leads. A servant of Jesus Christ can expect suffering, that being conformed to the likeness of Christ is not always a process of joy and that suffering being offered becomes the means of initiation. In this way we come to experience what St Paul wrote: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” Keywords Devotional, Inspirational, Esoteric, Biblical Commentary, St Luke, St Mark, St Matthew. |
