Go to ONLINE STREAMING for the most up-to-date information. You will find 'Online Streaming' under 'Calendar'. Getting set up to participate in streamed servicesSetting Up
To participate (rather than simply 'watch' the service), have some flowers and lit candle/s where you will be viewing the service. And have a consecrated host (or a piece of bread) and a glass with a little port/red wine/red fruit juice in it ready so you can take communion at the appropriate time. You can purchase pre-consecrated hosts through the Rosa Veritas online shop here. It works well if you set these things up beside the screen on which you will be viewing the service. Printing You will find it helpful to download and print out a copy of the Responses for the Cosmic Mass (Streamed Services) booklet. It can be printed as A4 pages, or as an A5 booklet if you printer allows you to choose 'booklet' in the print settings. This booklet can be used for all streamed Masses. ![]()
Also print out the song sheet that includes songs for the specific service you are participating in. This is available to download and print the day before the service. You will find a link (when it is available) in the list of dates and details on the main 'Streaming Services' page, under the date of the service you are attending. These song sheets are different for each service.
Joining the broadcast On the day of the service, about 5-10 minutes prior to the start time, click on the 'Zoom Meeting ID' link under the date of the service in the list of dates and details on the main 'Streaming Services' page, (Note that there is a different Meeting ID for each service.) Your web browser will connect you with the Zoom broadcast. If you are asked if you want to join the meeting, click 'Allow'. Your microphone will be muted when you join the meeting (so others don't hear you). Please leave it muted throughout the broadcast. Viewing Zoom has two main settings – 'Speaker View' and 'Gallery View'. There is usually a button somewhere on your screen that allows you to toggle back and forth between these two views. Sometime you need to move your mouse or touch your screen for the buttons to appear. Speaker View is best for participating in the service – it will show one large image of the service being broadcast (there may be one or several smaller images inset within the main image, and you can often turn these smaller images off by clicking or tapping on a '–' minus sign or a '—' minimise bar. Gallery View may be of interest at the start – you see a gallery of small images of all those participating via Zoom in the broadcast. Listening Both the audio and video quality of the Zoom broadcast are dependent on your internet connection and the device on which you are viewing and listening (your laptop, desktop computer, iPad etc). For ease of listening you may need to use ear/headphones or an external speaker. Participating Enjoy the service, participating in the singing and responses as much as you are able. When the invitation to participate in the communion is given, join in the communion. Take the bread (or host) saying to yourself, "May the power of Christ's life grown within me", and eat the bread. Then take the glass (or chalice) saying to yourself, "And may his spirit set me free", and drink the wine (or juice). Or use other words that are meaningful for you. Then sit in quiet reflection until the communion concludes and the service continues. At the end of the service, click of 'leave meeting' to exit. And if you get disconnected from the broadcast at any time, you can rejoin by clicking on the same link you used to initially join the service. Zoom You can find out more at www.zoom.us.
